30 days of surprises....What was I thinking?

Day 23
Well I fell off the wagon and stopped the process. I am going to finish. I was suprised today when Shannon commented on the fact I never finished the experiment I started. I am not one to quit but I may have some A.D.D issues. Well I am here and I will finish this over the next seven days......so heres to God's little suprises!!!

Day 22
I was surprised at how many people from my c-group feel the same way about most subjects. I often wonder does God place people together that think the same or does His love in us cause us to become like one another?????

Day21
I was surprised today while talking to a close friend. He expressed some things that he was thinking and some struggles. I was surprised that I had even noticed he was struggling and yet we talk all the time. God showed me we all struggle and for me to pay attention to the needs of others.

I was also surprised that Scott from American Idol wasn’t voted off!!!! LOL

Day 20
I was surprised today by a great phone call from a church leader. I was surprised at how open he was to talk and the freedom I felt to express some concerns. I hung extremely encouraged and thankful for the phone call.

Day 19
I was surprised today by a survey about mainline church staff. The information really surprised me that you can serve God and yet not totally believe the Bible and question the very core things that Christians believe. We must begin to live by the Bible and we must live by all of it…..not just the parts that we are comfortable with!!!!!!

Day 18
I was surprised today that God began to clear up a direction in my life. Shannon and I had discussed so strongly and wrestled with for awhile. Then in a instant it was like God spoke and we knew this is what we need to do……It still surprises me that God is never to late or to early but right on time!!!!

Day 17
I was surprised today that Shannon and I stayed up until 4am. It has been a long time since we had intense fellowship (some call them arguments) like that. The reality is that we were not fighting just working through some BIG decisions that we need to make. I was surprised at the fact we have come so far at loving each other and working through a problem all the while considering the effects on the other person. Thank you God for my hottie hotness!!!!

Day 16
No real surprise today….it was a good day!!!!

Day 15
I was surprised today by the great c-group we had. I think the surprise for me was that we all realize that there is no perfect church. This cause a wrestle in the soul of what is worth changing and what is just part of imperfect people running imperfect churches filled with imperfect church members.

Day 14
I am surprised at the change in my heart that God is doing. I am surprised that he has caused me to go back and look at every aspect of my spiritual life. I am at a point in my life that I am going to take a hard look at why I believe and do the things I do. Are they things God has called me to be apart of or are they just things that I have been doing so long they have just become a habit. I don’t know the answers yet but I am glad that God and I are talking about them!!!!!!

Day 13
I was surprised today by the reality that changing a culture and a tradition is so difficult. I am surprised at how hard people fight change. I am surprised at how tightly we hold on to the way we do things. I am surprised that I am often the person that struggles the most!

Day 12
I wasn’t really surprised today. I was just happy to have a great time in the park with the great people of this class. I think that we have the greatest Sunday school class and I feel so blessed to be apart of this group!!!

Day 11
I was Surprised today by Sarah scoring 8 points at her game while wearing a splint on her broken finger!!!! She really is a chip off the old block…..well not really Shannon is the basketball star and I actually got cut from the team. Well at least I cheer better than Shannon…..ha-ha

Day 10
I was surprised by a stomach bug, Bekah with pneumonia and Shannon with it also. Not much else to say but God help!!!!!

Day 9
I was surprised today at the willingness of many Christians to remain silent because they fear the cost of standing up for what is right!!!!!

Day 8
Well it has been a week and God has given a lot of surprises. For me today there was a new surprise…..That nothing stays the same. The reality with God is that he is always working and if we allow him to work in our lives then nothing can stay the same. Change is a difficult issue because we all love that which we are familiar with and the comfort that brings. I was surprised today by the revelation that sometimes those things we love must be removed so we can become like Jesus the one who loved us more than we can ever understand.

Day 7
Wow was I surprised today. Went back to the church I was saved in. It has changed a lot and I saw some old friends and some people I didn’t expect to see. God you sure surprised me today. On a side note I saw a guy from high school that I use to run with. He was pretty wild and we talked last night about how God has changed his life…..pretty cool to know where a person was and where God has taken them to.

Day 6
I was surprised today that I made my numbers at work again. I am commission based and the economy is really bad especially in the car business and yet God continues to send people to the store. I am so thankful that God is in control and that he sends manna from heaven everyday and just the right amount. Thank you God for loving me!!!!!

Day 5
I was surprised today about the fact that no matter how blessed I am I still have the ability to be a complete “butt head”. To those people that I treated that way today I say I am sorry……as the apostle Paul said I still ask myself why do I not do the things I should do and why do I do the things I should not do……..

Day 4
I was surprised today by a conversation I had with my accountability partner. I am surprised that we are getting to the place that we are really transparent with each other. I know we all say we have a friend that we can tell anything but the fact is that very few of us really have those. I must say that I am blessed to have a few men in my life that I feel like I can say anything to and that are not afraid to hold me accountable. The conversation today was not some amazing mountain top experience. It was two guys talking about how to know what God is saying to us in the middle of making so tough decision. The things he pointed out really spoke to me and I need to spend more time in prayer about them. I am surprised how God can use a friend to speak truth into your life right when you need it.

Day 3
I got up this morning and prayed those 3 little words “God Surprise Me” and guess what he did it again. Funny today my surprise is you guys. I am continually surprised at the way this class is always open to the movement of God. I am surprised when I feel like God is telling us to do something and you just trust his leading. I stopped to read your entries and I was encouraged by the move of God in each of your lives. I am thankful for each and every one of you. You are each special in your own way and I am truly blessed to walk this part of the journey with each of you. God I am surprised that you love me enough to allow me to walk with the ones that truly call you Lord!!!! I can’t wait to see what tomorrow holds!!!!

Day 2
Well my boss left the building today five years and counting ended with a "take care". I must confess I sat in my office and asked God what is going on? It has been an interesting few months in my life. The surprise today was that a good friend called and said I have to talk to you before you leave work. He walked in my office and gave some simple encouragement to me. The surprice was not that he encouraged me because he does those kinds of things. The surprise was that he drove all the way to my store to give me words of encouragement and then drove back home. He could have just said it over the phone but he did'nt he came to my office. What compells a man to do that....only the love of Christ in that man!!!! Thanks God for giving me a friend like that.

Day1
Well, I woke up this morning and went out the front door. Standing on the front porch I said those three words....."Surprise me Lord". Around 9 am my boss of 5 years walked into my office and said tomorrow will be his last day with our company....he is quitting. I thought "Interesting first day"......What was I thinking in starting such an experiment?!!!!! Well, off to bed. Who knows what tomorrow might bring?????
