John Howell's Class

the place for information

John Howell

Lets talk about the subject of accountability. How do we Biblically deal with it????

Accountability- subject to the obligation to report, explain, or justify something; responsible; answerable.

This is a forgotten art in the Christian world today. We live in a time of you do what is best for you and I will do what I see fit for me. The Bible does not teach this. I have come to a place in my life where I realize left on my own I have the ability to see things the way I want them to be which is not always how God wants them to be. We live in an environment that complains about how things are done and yet never does anything about it. I talk to people who say my marriage is a wreck, my kids don’t listen, my job is not going well and my LIFE is falling apart and yet don’t seek to hear what God may say about it. I watch as people chase the American dream, pass each other is the halls of there house, run there children from one event to another and never stop to ask God if that is what he wanted for there life. I believe that it is time for those of us that call ourselves brothers and sisters in Christ to begin to hold each other accountable.

I had a good friend call me last night and all he said was did everything you do today bring glory and honor to God. I was struck that he would ask me such a question. In that brief moment the whole day ran through my head and I had to answer with a “no”. I wonder what your answer would have been?

I am of the belief that the most important thing we can do as a friend is to hold one another accountable. I think if we are ever going be what God wants us to be we need to be held accountable. I am calling for the men and women of this class to make a commitment. I am asking that all of us find an accountability partner by the end of the year. Find the person that will ask the tuff questions and find the person that will tell you the truth even when they know you don’t want to hear it.

Please give me you feed back.

Wow! How did I overlook this post? I am slipping! There is a lot of truth to what you said. This is a NEEDED part of the Christian walk, because face it, sometimes we are unable to judge ourselves the right way. Sometimes we are to way easier on ourselves than we should be. I am willing to partner with someone. I know I need someone to keep me straight.
Good Challenge! See everyone in class.
